Of interest this week...

food

I love Melissa Clark's recipes from the New York Times. I love them so much that I bought her cookbook; Dinner.  One of the recipes I really like is her Baked Fish and Chips (however it's absent from the cookbook).  Here's the recipe via the Seattle Times. Oh and for crispy fries make sure that the potatoes are separate from each other when you organize them on the baking sheet; that's important.

drink

I love gin & tonic. My gin of choice is Bombay Sapphire and I like my drink in a tall glass, with an abundance of fresh lime (squeezed and sliced), filled with ice and the tonic must be Schweppes. HOWEVER a friend introduced me to an alternate version of a gin & tonic this week. Roku Gin from Japan, Fevertree Elderflower tonic, muddled blackberries and loads of ice ensconced in a full goblet style glass. One word,  YUM. Thanks Patrick; owner of A Modern Space.

gift

I finally broke open a bar of soap that a client gifted me. She had visited a hamman in Istanbul and knew of my love of the expereince.  I was so delighted to receive this soap!!! Using it brings me right back to Istanbul, steamy rooms with heated marble slabs and a skin scrubbing that leaves one with baby smooth skin for weeks. So much to love about the hamman experience! When I fly through Istanbul and if I have a long layover I try to make it  into town for a hamman. I recently sent clients of mine to Ayasofya and they loved it.

what caught my eye

Items of interest to me this week are...the  Hotel Esencia - in Tulum - that is apparently shaking up the Mayan Riviera - according to CNN Travel - with its client service, stunning decor, and quiet seclusion.  Conde Naste has a great list of "where to holiday in February" that I thought was interesting.  Suitcase Magazine wrote about The Stump which is a two hour drive from London and is on my list to investigate the next time I am in the UK.
